Dan WIlcox made it to Nitty Gritty Slam at The Low Beat for the first time this season and not only competed in the slam, but came in 2nd.
PSL is always a high-powered event with a heavy dose of outrageousness, but tonight promised to be over the top with the feature Tim Verhaegen.
The 27th Annual “Day of Poet” Poetry Contest & Open Mic is Saturday, November 28 at the William K. Sanford Library with a top prize of $200.

The Poets Speak Loud open mic series returns to McGeary’s in downtown Albany on Monday, October 26, with featured reader Tim Verhaegen.
The 2015 Albany Word Fest has been great and we have two more great events: the Word Fest Open Mic & 3rd Annual Word Fest Invitational Slam.
The start of our 5th year at the Arts Center of the Capital Region, with my co-host Nancy Klepsch, down the hall in the conference room.
Word Fest week is here! We have a week’s worth of poetry & spoken word events lined up. Plus, there are open mics & reading taking place all over the area.
We are now within two weeks until the 2014 Albany Word Fest, our celebration of National Poetry Month and the poetry and spoken word of upstate NY.
The annual, pre-Xmas, visit from Sanity Clause, a yearly opportunity for the old fellow to have the badly-behaved good poets of Albany sit on his welcoming lap.
Another big week of poetry this week as we get closer to the new year with a holiday Nitty Gritty Slam and the Third Thursday Poetry Night.
