Merry Go Round

Shattered mirror, glass shards on the floor
Many years of bad luck, what is seven more?
Pieces of the future in all that broken glass
One more failure that I won’t let pass

Withered daydreams, empty arms without love
No faith to turn to, unbeliever of above
Aimless wandering to the end of each day
Same old diatribe is all I have to say

Merry go round and round
Why won’t it ever end?
Merry go round and round
Here I go again…

Restless regret the force of a waterfall
Crashing on the jagged rocks of my total recall
Drifting down the stream past mistakes they go on by
There hasn’t been a day that I could stay dry

Waiting on the shore behind a face that is sweet and pure
Is the next heartbreaker that I think is my cure
When I fall so deep that I can’t even see the top
That is the very moment that this dream will stop

Merry go round and round
Why won’t it ever end?
Merry go round and round
Here I go again…

My heart’s exposed and left out in the cold
I should know by now my endings are foretold
I’ve been choosing wrong all these many years
Never took advice from all those fallen tears

Should’ve turned away but you were so far down
How could I stand there and watch you slowly drown
I stayed too long, you were the one to push me out
Another charm on my bracelet of doubt

Merry go round and round
Why won’t it ever end?
Merry go round and round
Here I go again…

Shelves of ideas and poems that explain my life
Words that cut deeper than any malpractice knife
There for the world if one cares to take a look
The closest my life will be to an open book

The pain in my words is all too real, all too true
Pain that comes in second to the time I wasted with you
I still have photographs that I took and there I see
That your true face was always kept away from me

Merry go round and round
Why won’t it ever end?
Merry go round and round
Here I go again…

Merry go round and round
Why won’t I let it end?
Merry go round and round
Misery’s my best friend.

Under The Blue

She arrives here
Under the blue
Promise fractured the haze
Safe from the storm
Umbrella of tranquility

A blanket on the black
That reflects the blue.

She cries here
Under the blue
Two hearts sunder from one
Why was happy so hard
Shame deprives pride

A memory of the black
That denies the blue.

She leaves here
Under the blue
Too deep of a fall
Cannot make the trip
The elsewhere calls

A retreat to the black
That hides the blue.

She returns here
Under the blue
To sleep it all away
Years spent running
Searching for a home

A shelter from the black
That fades the blue.

She dies here
Under the blue
The sky holds her tight
Softly goes her soul
Into this gentle hue

A dagger into the black
That frees the blue.

Pages Torn

Pages torn from your calendar
Floating down like autumn leaves

Why do you think so differently
From what everyone else believes?

Turning your back on all of us
Only to face another system

If anything new is discovered
You’ve probably missed them!

The snow falls silent and white
All looks black there in the night
The world can be quieter still
If you swallow that bitter pill…

Pages torn from your calendar
Floating down like autumn leaves

Why do you think so differently
From what everyone else believes?
