Poets Speak Loud Featuring L-Majesty

It’s the end of summer, the college students are back in the neighborhoods, the kids are getting ready to go back to school, and the sun is setting earlier and earlier. What better way to deal with all of that than a night of great poetry and good friends. Join us this coming Monday, when we gather in the back room at McGeary’s for the August edition of Poets Speak Loud.

This month our featured poet is L-Majesty.

Luis has been coming out to the local poetry readings for a few years now. He made an impact at the 2012 Albany Word Fest Open Mic this past April and was recently one of the poets vying for a spot on the Nitty Gritty Slam team. As he says himself, his work “explores the intricate nuances between humanity and the divine. I examine topics such as sexuality, religion, love, technology, relationships, government, injustice and race.”

And if an open mic with a featured poet is not enough, we will also be announcing who will be roasted at next month’s Poets Speak Loud Celebrity Roast. You don’t want to miss this announcement to find out who will be on the hot seat. So far we have roasted local poets Dan Wilcox and Don Levy. Who’s next?

Poets Speak Loud a monthly open mic held at McGeary’s, 4 Clinton Square in Albany NY.  It is held on the Last Monday of each month unless otherwise indicated.  Your host for Poets Speak Loud is none other than Albany’s poetry diva and Vice President of Albany Poets, Mary Panza.
