Nitty Gritty Slam #22

Nitty Gritty Slam #22 at Valentine’s on Tuesday, July 17

Nitty Gritty Slam #22

Fresh off of two regional slams in the past week where the Nitty Gritty Slam and Albany poetry made a big impact, we are storming back into Valentine’s next Tuesday, July 17, for Nitty Gritty Slam #22.

How will Team Nitty Gritty perform with the confidence knowing that they can take on all comers? Will we see some new poets come out and step on stage? At the last poetry slam the winners (Elizag, Shannon Shoemaker, and Poetyc Visionz) were seasoned Nitty Gritty veterans, but the new faces in the crowd made it a very close contest.

Join us at NGS #22 as start get down to the Nitty Gritty and try to raise funds to send the team down to the Nationals for the first time.

Albany Poets, Urban Guerilla Theatre, and The Frequency North Reading Series are bringing slam back to Albany with the NITTY GRITTY SLAM.

NGS takes place at Valentine’s (17 New Scotland Ave.) on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of each month.

If you’re not into slam, but want to get on stage and share your work, we have an open mic before the slam.

Sign up begins at 7PM, open mic starts at 7:30, and the slam starts at 8PM.

Admission is $5.00 ($3.00 with student ID). This is an 18+ show.

For information on the rules and format of the Nitty Gritty Slam and to meet the team, go tohttp://nittygrittyslam.com/

If you can not make it out to Valentine’s for the show, we will be streaming the event live right here on AlbanyPoets.com. You can still watch the last slam to find out what this poetry slam thing is all about.

As you may have heard, we are asking everyone in the upstate poetry community to help Team Nitty Gritty make it Charlotte for the NPS by donating to offset some of the costs involved with travel and lodging. If you would like to help, please click the “Donate” link on the top of the page. We have set up some thank you gifts that you can choose from. We have all of that information on our support page.

A big thank you to everyone who has already contributed to Albany Poets and continue to support the poets and poetry of the area.
