Here is a look at another great week of poetry events, readings, open mics, and slams in the region to celebrate the art of spoken word.
We are back at The Low Beat on Tuesday, September 2 to kick off Season Four of Nitty Gritty Slam with featured poet Sean Patrick Mulroy.
We’re back at The Low Beat on Tuesday, August 19 for Nitty Gritty Slam #76. And this is not just any slam, it’s the Night of Champions!
We’re back at The Low Beat on Tuesday, June 3 Nitty Gritty Slam #71 with an Old School Slam after a very exciting team selection tournament.
A great lineup of poetry this week with open mics, the 2014 Nitty Gritty Grand Slam, and special events to get us ready for the WXW Festival.
On May 20, everyone will want to be at The Low Beat for the 2014 Grand Slam featuring eight poets competing to be part of #TeamNittyGritty.

On Tuesday, May 6 we’re hosting the Wild Card / Last Chance Slam with the top two poets of the night moving on to the Grand Slam on May 20.
The kick-off, the 1st round, the ceremonial 1st pitch, the launch of Up the River, the opening lines of Word Fest in the backroom of McGeary’s.
Things are really heating up as we get closer to selecting the team to represent Albany and NGS at the National Poetry Slam in Oakland.
