Poets Speak Loud Featuring Jessica Rae

Jessica Rae

The Poets Speak Loud open mic series returns to McGeary’s on Monday, July 27, with featured poet Jessica Rae.

Jessica Rae is a poet, social and environmental justice advocate & activist, musician, artist, and clerical worker. She was a professional “go-fer” when she wasn’t a professional student until health issues indicated she become a professional, full-time, self-healer. Poetry is her therapy.

She wrote a letter-to-the-editor on bomb trains, a reprimand to the parole review board, many public comments on social justice issues, and is active with the Albany poetry community.

Her poetry is often semi-traditional, straight-forward, musical, egoistical, gynocentric, angsty; sometimes cautionary, dystopian, observational, or self-deprecating; and frequently dialectical.

Poets Speak Loud is Albany Poets’ long-running monthly open mic for poetry and spoken word with a featured poet hosted by local poet Mary Panza at McGeary’s (4 Clinton Square) in downtown Albany on the last Monday of each and every month.

Sign-up for the open mic is 7:00pm, we start around 8pm.
