Another great lineup of poetry and spoken word this week with lots of poetry including a special performance at The Linda, Poets in the Park, Nitty Gritty Slam #74, and open mics with great features all over the region.

Pine Hills Review presents the Sunday Funday Reading Series. The theme for this reading is: “Smallbany” – contributors and friends share writing and stories about Albany: Fuze Boxes, Spray-tanned mayors, and Kegs & Eggs.

Albany’s poetry slam continues the Summer of Slam in the city of Albany with NGS #74. Admission to NGS is $5.00 / $3.00 with student ID.

7:00pm – Colonie Tuesday Night Live Poets’ Corner
William K. Sanford Town Library, 629 Albany Shaker Road, Loudonville, NY
ocal poets and writers of all ages are invited to present six to ten minutes of their original work at this open reading forum. The public is encouraged to stop in and listen. Hosted by William Robert Foltin.

8:00pm – Northampton Poetry Open Mic
Hinge, 48 Main St., Northampton, MA
Northampton’s only weekly open mic poetry night offers some of the best, most creative voices in the county. Every Tuesday night at 8:00pm. Come down and listen. Come down and share your words. Academic or slam, spoken word or political: Your words are welcome.

Dan Wilcox hosts this open mic for poetry and spoken word featuring poet Susan Maurer.

8:00pm – Starving Artist Thursdays

A weekly open Mic for music, poetry, and spoken word at one of Albany’s best new coffee shops.

8:00pm – Albany Poets Presents: Team Nitty Gritty

Join Albany Poets for an incredible night of poetry and spoken word at The Linda with the members of all three Nitty Gritty Slam Teams (2012 – 2014) including ILLiptical, Algorhythm, D. Colin, Kevin Peterson, Poetyc Visionz. Daniel Summerhill, and Billy Buchanon.

8:00pm – Hudson Valley Writers’ Center

Monthly poetry open mic series with a featured reader John Fitzpatrick hosted by Robert Milby.

7:00pm – Poets in the Park
Robert Burns Statue, Washington Park, Albany, NY
Poets in the Park is a long-running summertime poetry reading series that takes place on Saturdays in July at the Robert Burns statue, Washington Park, Albany at Henry Johnson Blvd. & Hudson Ave. The featured poets for the second Poets in the Park for 2014 are Melody Davis and Brian Dorn.
