As the 2013 Albany Word Fest is starting to wind down we are getting ready for more poetry and spoken word coming up next week. But before that we still have three big events in the Word Fest. Tonight is the Word Fest Open Mic at the UAG Gallery starting at 7:00pm. The list already has 65 poets signed up and we may be able to open up more spots as the night goes on. Then right up Central Ave. at The Linda Mojavi and the rest of the UGT team are presenting “Skit Happens, Too” with some of the best poetry, music, performance, comedy, and this month, skits.

Then tomorrow we head over to Valentine’s to bring Word Fest week to a close with the first ever Word Fest Invitational Slam. This will be special six team, four round slam with poets from Albany, Syracuse, Bridgeport, Jersey City, Suffern, and Buffalo. The local poets representing Nitty Gritty Slam are Kevin Peterson, Algorhythm, Daniella Watson, and Poetyc Visionz. Tickets are available online for only $10. This show will begin at 6:00pm sharp.
