Welcome to the holiday season in upstate New York. We survived Thanksgiving and the November edition of Poets Speak Loud this past Monday, now we look forward to another great week of poetry and spoken word kicking off the month of December. Things really heat up in the middle of the week with Nitty Gritty Slam on Tuesday night with featured poet Influence and the continue on Wednesday up in Saratoga at Caffe Lena with featured poets Thom Francis and Lynn Ciesielski.

Albany Poets, Urban Guerilla Theatre, and The Frequency North Reading Series are bringing slam back to Albany with the NITTY GRITTY SLAM on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of each month. If you’re not into slam, but want to get on stage and share your work, we have an open mic before the slam. Sign up begins at 7PM, open mic starts at 7:30, and the slam starts at 8PM. Admission is $5.00 ($3.00 with student ID). The featured poet at this slam is Influence.
