Third Thursday Poetry Night Featuring James Belflower

James Belflower

Thursday evenings seem to be the hot night for poetry and tomorrow night is no different. We have Frequency North at Saint Rose, The Safe Haven downtown at The Book Club, music and spoken word at the Hudson River Coffee House, and one of the longest running poetry open mic series taking place at on Central Ave. all happening at (or around) the same time. Dan Wilcox is hosting the Third Thursday Poetry Night at the Social Justice Center (33 Central Ave., Albany) with featured performer James Belflower.

James Belflower is the author of Commuter (Instance Press), And Also a Fountain (NeOpepper Press) and Bird Leaves the Cornice, (Spring Gun Press) winner of the 2011 Spring Gun Press Chapbook Prize. His work appears, or is forthcoming in: Fence, New American Writing, 1913, and EOAGH among others and he co-curates the Yes! Reading Series in Albany, New York.

There is an open mic (1 poem!) before and after the feature. Sign up begins at 7:00 and the poetry starts at 7:30.  There is a $3.00 donation, suggested; “more if you got it, less if you can’t”.
