We were upstairs for this edition of the Nitty Gritty Slam, battling the band downstairs. The voices of the poets rose above it all and we were treated to some great new poetry and some old favorites both at the open mic and the slam.
Before the slam began, and while Dain Brammage was rounding up judges, D. Alexander Holiday, Bless, Mojavi, and Jessica Layton all got up and participated in the open mic before the slam. Jessica also participated in the slam, making it a “5-4-2” this time around, with Dan Wilcox, Poetyc Visionz, Elizag, and Shannon “In The Money” Shoemaker.
In the end, there were three familiar faces on stage accepting their prizes.

The next Nitty Gritty Slam is number 13… It’s seen as bad luck for some while other see it as a sign of good things to come.
