Getting Ready to “8-4-2” It Again

NGS7

This Tuesday night we will be back at Valentines for the last Nitty Gritty Slam of 2011. This is the eighth edition of the new slam series and so far the events have been exciting and inspiring. Hosts Mojavi and Dain Brammage have been working hard putting together great shows for both new and returning poets and spoken word artists.

With this being the last show of the year, we can only imagine what they have in store for us in 2012. One thing that will be happening is getting registered with Poetry Slam Inc. so that we can start getting a team together to send to the National Poetry Slam! Some of the poets involved in NGS have been to the big stage with other teams in the past, so one has to wonder what a team of all-stars from Albany will be able to bring against the best in the country.

At the last NGS (#7) Succulent Baby Toes (Kevin Peterson) took home his inaugural first place prize. Will be be able to be the first two-time winner this time around? Will he also be able to get another perfect, 30 point score? You will have to get over to Valentines on Tuesday night, December 20 to find out. Sign up starts at 7 with an open mic hosted by Urban Guerilla Theatre’s Mojavi at 7:30 for those who do not want to slam. The main event starts at 8:00PM with Slam Master Dain Brammage taking over the festivities for the evening.
