Writers Speak Easy
Do you love the spoken word? Writers Speak Easy is a monthly open reading and roundtable discussion. Participants are encouraged to perform their original work and the work of others, and to engage with one another throughout the evening. Poets, storytellers, authors, comics… Join us in cultivating a supportive literary community. All are welcome.
Unlike traditional open mic events, we do not use a sign-up sheet. Instead, participants share their work when they feel ready to do so (please keep your reading to five or six minutes). After each piece, the group is welcome to ask questions of the author or engage in a short group discussion. Participants are also encouraged to read work in response to what others have shared. Those who do not want group input (or who do not wish to share their work at all) are also welcome to listen and participate.
This event is free, although participants are encouraged to purchase food, drink, or books from Rough Draft. There is a selection of craft beer, wine, coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages, along with savory pies, gluten-free scones, and local pastries.
Writers Speak Easy usually meets the first Wednesday of every month at Rough Draft.
