Caffe Lena Poetry Featuring Marylou Steznewski

The first Wednesday of every month is Poetry Night at Caffe Lena. Hosted by Carol Graser, this event includes an open mic reading and a featured poet.  The doors open for signups at 6:30 and the readings start at 7PM. In August the featured poet is Marylou Steznewski. The featured reading will also be livestreamed, please visit for links and information.

Marylou Kelly Streznewski’s career has included theater, journalism, and the teaching of writing on high school, college and community levels. She is the author of the poetry collection Sitting in the Shade of My Own Tree (Kelsay Books 2019). She’s published three chapbooks, Dying with Robert Mitchum (Aldrich Books, 2015), Rag Time and Woman Words, which are housed in the chapbook collection of Poet’s House in New York. Her nonfiction book, Gifted Grownups: The Mixed Blessing of Extraordinary Potential, a study of one hundred gifted adults, appears in libraries word-wide, and as a textbook in graduate courses. She served as Poetry Director of the Writer’s Room, a local non- profit in Doylestown, Pennsylvania as well as Poetry Editor of the BUCKS COUNTY WRITER, a local journal. In 2018, Streznewski received the Bucks County Community College Muse Award for “Contributions to poetry in Bucks County.” She has recently relocated to the senior community, Beverwyck, in Slingerlands where she initiated a twice monthly poetry discussion group and in 2021 was named their Poet Laureate.
