Before You Turn The Page

Poets excavate, reexamine, and remember names before we move onto the next shiny object. Via Zoom, registration (free) required at WordXWordFestival.com

Stories hit the headline, you hit the street with signs, sign petitions, put a sign on your lawn, pin a button to your lapel, make a donation – say you will never forget. But then a next shiny object/outrage begs our attention and you move on letting the loss or injustice slip further and further from your mind. WordXWord has invited poets to pause to excavate, reexamine, remember names before moving on, before turning the page.

Before You Turn The Page is a continuation of WordXWord’s Poets Creating Conversation which challenges poets to provoke and bear witness, challenging them to circle loosely around a theme or issue in the current discourse in order to create a broad, multi-dimensional “conversation” between poems, poets, and audience.

While WordXWord events are always free and open to all, parents and guardians are advised that some content may be challenging for younger children.
