Albany Poets and the Hudson Valley Writers Guild have announced their plan of coming together to support and grow a vibrant local literary community.
The 2021 Hudson Valley Writers Guild Annual Meeting will take place on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. via Zoom.
We are pleased to announce this year’s Hudson Valley Writers Guild Non-Fiction Contest winners.
Currently, the Guild needs board members who are willing to work a few hours each month to keep us going.
Poets & other citizens will gather on Monday, May 31, 2021 at 6:00 PM at the Robert Burns statue in Washington Park in Albany, NY to celebrate the birthday of the quintessential American poet, Walt Whitman, with a reading of his poem “Song of Myself”.
The HVWG writing contest alternates genres annually. This year’s contest is NON-FICTION. This category includes memoir, humor and personal essay.
On Saturday, February 13th from 1-2:30 p.m. you’ll hear stories by Frank Robinson and Marlene Rosenfield, the 2nd and 3rd place winners of the 2020 Hudson Valley Writers Guild Short Fiction Contest.

This year two prizes of $200. each were awarded to Albany High School Senior Jazmin Galloway and Sophomore Mandy Berghela.
The HVWG writing contest alternates genres annually. This year’s contest is short fiction. Winners will be awarded cash prizes and invited to read their winning piece at a special meeting TBD. The deadline to enter has been extended to June 30, 2020.
The Hudson Valley Writers Guild supports the efforts of writers in all genres by sponsoring readings, workshops, and contests and providing a number of valuable resources for the entire literary community.
