Poetic License – Albany Featured Reading & Open Mic

The Poetic License – Albany show continues with two featured reading & open mic events in September.

Join us as we feature Megeen Mulholland, Charlie Rossiter, Jennifee, Jill Crammond, Cheryl Rice, Barbara Ungar, Tom Corrado, and Brian Liston whose work inspired the visual art hanging on the gallery walls.

Megeen R. Mulholland is the author of Orbit and Crossing the Divide. Her work has been called an “epiphany of parenthood.”

Charles Rossiter, NEA Fellowship recipient, hosts the bi-weekly podcast at www.poetryspokenhere.com (since 2015). His poetry collections include The Night We Danced With the Raelettes, a memoir in poetry, All Over America: Road Poems, and Green Mountain Meditations (all from FootHills Publishing). He lived in Albany during the 90s and currently lives and writes in Bennington, VT.

Jennifee is a songwriter currently in the midst of recording her first album. She was born and raised in Johnstown, New York, and currently resides in Capital Region.

Jill Crammond’s chapbook, Handbook for Unwell Mothers, is forthcoming in May 2023 from Finishing Line Press. Her poems have appeared in literary magazines and anthologies such as Slipstream, SWWIM, Sweet Tree Review, Limp Wrist, Tinderbox Poetry Journal, Mom Egg Review, and Mother Mary Comes to Me: A Pop Culture Poetry Anthology (Madville Publishing). Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and her poems recently appeared as part of Poem Village, a community program celebrating local poetry in the Adirondack town of Saranac Lake.

Cheryl A. Rice is the author of Love’s Compass, My Minnesota Boyhood, and Moses Parts the Tulips. Host and founder of the now-defunct Sylvia Plath Bake-Off, her blog is at: http://flyingmonkeyprods.blogspot.com/.

A professor at the College of Saint Rose, Barbara Ungar lives in Saratoga Springs, NY. Her most recent book, Save Our Ship, won the Snyder Prize from Ashland Poetry Press and was named to Kirkus Reviews’ Best Books of 2019; it also won a Franklin Award from the Independent Book Publishers Association and was a Distinguished Favorite at the Independent Press Awards.www.barbaraungar.net.

Tom Corrado is a poet, painter, and musician. He coordinates a monthly poetry group at the Rensselaerville Library, curates an annual Poem-A-Day Project in celebration of National Poetry Month, and blogs at scriptsfortoday.blogspot.com and at paintingwithoutnumbers.blogspot.com.

Brian Liston is an Autistic poet that has been published in the Hudson Valley and featured in numerous featured readings as well as in magazines, anthologies and his own chapbook, Through Autistic Eyes. He also documents his life life experiences on his blog, The Autistic SuperBlog, which was started in 2017 in the hopes to inspire and encourage others who are struggling.
