The Poets Speak Loud open mic series continues at McGeary’s in downtown Albany on Monday, March 27, with featured readers from Reality Beach – Kenyatta JP GarciaAnna Kreienberg, Adam Tedesco, and Michael Peters.

REALITY BEACH is a purveyor of new poetry. Poetry is an expansive term.
REALITY BEACH believes in the possibility of spontaneous transcendence through poetry.
REALITY BEACH lives by the credo PLUR: Peace, Love, Unity & Respect.
REALITY BEACH doesn’t care about credentials, but appreciates those who have dedicated their lives to the study and practice of poetry.
REALITY BEACH advocates for the destruction of the white supremacist capitalist patriarchy.

REALITY BEACH is a dream within a dream.

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Kenyatta JP Garcia currently resides in Albany where they received a degree in linguistics. They are a poet/humorist and the author of the speculative/slipstream epics – ROBOT, Yawning on the Sands and Playing Dead. Their work has appeared in Barzakh, Brooklyn Rail, Queen Mob’s Teahouse and Reality Beach.

Anna Kreienberg is a founding editor of REALITY BEACH. She is currently pursuing degrees in English and Psychology at NYU. Her work has most recently appeared on Albany Poets, Really System and H_NGM_N. Find her on Twitter @anna_kreienberg.

Adam Tedesco is a founding editor of REALITY BEACH. His recent work has appeared or is forthcoming in Funhouse, Fanzine, Fence, Cosmonauts Avenue, Hobart, Plinth, SPRTS, and elsewhere. He is the author of several chapbooks, most recently HEART SUTRA (REALITY BEACH), and ABLAZA, forthcoming from Lithic Press.

Michael Peters is the author of the sound-imaging poem “Vaast Bin” (Calamari Press, 2007) and other assorted language art and sound works. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in SleepingFish, Bright Pink Mosquito, Word for/Word, Barzakh, PEEP/SHOW, Drunken Boat, GAFF, Polis, The Equalizer, BathHouse Hypermedia Journal, Hyperrhiz: New Media Cultures, unarmed, HAARP (w/the Berkeley Museum of Art & Pacific Film Archive), REALITY BEACH, and elsewhere.

Poets Speak Loud is Albany Poets’ long-running monthly open mic for poetry and spoken word with a featured poet hosted by local poet Mary Panza at McGeary’s (4 Clinton Square) in downtown Albany on the last Monday of each and every month.

Sign-up for the open mic is 7:00pm, we start around 8pm.
