Poetry returns to the Pine Hollow Arboretum in Slingerlands tonight, Friday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. with featured reader Alifair Skebe for the Poets of Earth, Water, Tree and Sky open mic.
Alifair Skebe is author of two books of poetry El Agua Es la Sangre de la Tierra/water is the blood of the earth (written in English) (Finishing Line Press, 2008) and Postcards: Les Lettres d’Amour (Basilisk Press, 2004). Her poetry appears in numerous literary journals.
She holds a PhD in American Poetry from the University at Albany, an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies (Women’s Studies, Poetry, Anthropology) and a BA in English Literature from the University of North Texas.
She has been Editor of The Little Magazine and The North Texas Review, and Staff Editor of American Literary Review.
The Open Mic for writers and poets will be offered as usual. Poets can read three short poems or two longer poems or two pages of prose will be acceptable. There will be light refreshments offered. Donations welcomed. Contact Alan Casline at acasline@aol.com for more information.
