On Tuesday, February 4 we head back to Nitty Gritty headquarters, Valentine’s, for the 63rd edition of Nitty Gritty Slam, Albany’s one and only poetry slam series.
We have had an incredible third season so far with three great poets, Kevin Peterson, Bless, and Poetyc Visionz, already punching their tickets to the Grand Slam in the spring.
For the second half of the season, the top spot is firmly held my Algorhythm with Avery and Samson creeping up the points ladder. Who will step up and wrestle the first place spot away from Algo? Who can stop Samson from rising to the top? Who willl fill out the Grand Slam lineup?
We have seen some new faces at the shows in the past few weeks and have been excited to hear new voices take the stage. Who will enter the fray this time around and join us for another great night of poetry and spoken word?
The road to NPS 2014 has begun and there is still time to get on board. The next stop is NGS #63.
Albany Poets, Urban Guerilla Theatre, and The Frequency North Reading Series have brought slam back to Albany with the Nitty Gritty Slam.
NGS takes place at Valentine’s (17 New Scotland Ave.) on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of each month.
If you’re not into slam, but want to get on stage and share your work, we have an open mic before the slam.
Sign up begins at 7:00pm, open mic starts at 7:30, and then Thom Francisstarts the slam at 8:00pm.
