The Hudson Valley Writers Guild is now accepting submissions for our 2025 HVWG Nonfiction Contest.
This year’s contest celebrates the art of true storytelling—memoir, humor, and personal essay—told in your voice, from your perspective. Whether you’re sharing a defining moment, a humorous slice of life, or a moving reflection, we want to read it.
Prizes
- 1st Place: $100
- 2nd Place: $75
- 3rd Place: $50
- Honorable Mentions (3): $20 each
All winners will be invited to read their work at a special HVWG literary event later in the year.
Guidelines
- Open to all writers (HVWG members and non-members)
- Submissions must be previously unpublished
- One entry per person
- Do not include your name or identifying information anywhere on the submitted piece
- Deadline: July 14, 2025, at 11:59 PM
- Winners will be notified by email
