“Jamie has worked with thousands of new and experienced writers as a mentor, guide, editor, and muse. No matter what stage of writing you’re in, she will help you unlock the key to your own unique literary style,” says Jill Kalotay, Academy board member and co-chair of the Festival of Books. “Using writing prompts and exercises, Jamie will get you writing and move you closer to discovering the themes that will take you through a lifetime of creative exploration.”
Callan has taught creative writing for over 30 years. She is the creator of The Writers Toolbox, author of three young adult novels and four French lifestyle books. She has been published in the New York Times, Story Magazine, The Missouri Review, and she has won many awards for her writing, including the Goldwyn Award in Screenwriting, fellowships from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, the Massachusetts Council on the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, and most recently, an international residency from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts to write in Auvillar, France.
