So much going on in the local literary, poetry, and spoken word community. Here is a look at all of the events, readings, slams, and workshops coming up this week in the region.

 

Sunday, October 4

4:00 pm – Katonah Poetry Series with Gregory Djanikian
On Sunday, October 4, 2020, the Katonah Poetry Series is honored to present Gregory Djanikian, introduced by KPS Poet Advisor, Billy Collins.

7:00 pm – Fahrenheit Presents Andy Clausen & Pamela Twining
Join Fahrenheit on Zoom when we’ll welcome Andy Clausen and Pamela Twining to the virtual stage along with an open mic.

7:00 pm – Poetry & the 2020 Election
A special event featuring poets Brenda Coultas, Christopher Funkhouser, Anne Gorrick, Amy King, Evelyn Reilly, Michael Ruby, Sparrow, & more.

 

Monday, October 5

7:00 pm – Poetic Vibe
Poetic Vibe is a weekly open mic for poetry and spoken word, hosted by D. Colin, with featured local and regional poets

 

Tuesday, October 6

7:00 pm – Club Helsinki Open Mic
Every Tuesday Night Cameron Melville and Ryder Cooley host a Virtual Open Mic Night featuring music, poetry, comedy, interviews, performance art, and more!

 

Wednesday, October 7

7:00 pm – Caffe Lena Poetry Night with Andy Clausen, Sarah Giragosian, and Jordan Smith
The first Wednesday of every month is Poetry Night at Caffe Lena. Tonight’s featured poets are Andy Clausen, Sarah Giragosian, and Jordan Smith.

 

Thursday, October 8

7:00 pm – Word Thursdays Featuring Mary Gilliland
Word Thursdays Online featuring Mary Gilliland, reading from her new, award-winning chapbook, “The Ruined Walled Castle Garden”.

7:45 pm – The Nick Bisanz Show
Every Thursday night Nick Bisanz, Geo Doody, and guest musicians, poets, artists perform LIVE from Nick’s living room to yours.

 

Saturday, October 10

12:30 pm – Poetry of Resistance with JP Howard
Poets have a long history of using poetry to speak out against injustices. In this generative workshop, writers will respond to both current day events and historical injustices with their own poems of resistance.
