The Caffe Lena Poetry Night Live Stream is recorded in the listening room and broadcast live for the community to enjoy. Picking up its regular slot on the first Wednesday of the month, Caffe Lena’s poetry night will feature poets Mike Jurkovic, Suzanne R. Rancourt, and Jay Rogoff on November 4 at 7 PM.
Jay Rogoff was born in New York City but has lived in upstate New York his entire adult life, since 1985 in Saratoga Springs, where he worked and taught at Skidmore College. His poetry and criticism have appeared widely, in such places as AGNI, Field, The Georgia Review, The Kenyon Review, The Paris Review, The Progressive, Salmagundi, and The Southern Review, and he serves as dance critic for The Hopkins Review. Suzanne S. Rancourt, Abenaki/Huron descent, is a multi-modal Expressive Arts Therapist and a Marine and Army veteran. Her first book of poetry, Billboard in the Clouds (Curbstone Press), received the Native Writers’ Circle of the Americas First Book Award and is now in its 2nd printing with Northwestern University Press. Her second, murmurs at the gate, (Unsolicited Press, 2019), uses both fictional and autobiographical events to create a chorus of survivors. Mike Jurkovic’s poetry and musical criticism have appeared in over 500 magazines and periodicals such as Elmore Magazine, Folk and Acoustic Music Exchange, Comstock Review, North Dakota Quarterly, as well as in several literary anthologies. Jurkovic is President of Calling All Poets, a reading series in New Paltz, NY and is the Tuesday night host of Jazz Sanctuary, WOOC 105.3 FM, Troy, NY.
