Upcoming Poetry Events – Week of December 2, 2018

So much going on in the local poetry and spoken word community this week. Here is a look at all of the poetry events, readings, slams, and workshops coming up this week in the region.

 

Sunday, December 2

4:00pm – “Dear Cloudface”: Poetry and Music to Celebrate T.G. Vanini’s New Book
Woodstock Town Hall, 76 Tinker Street, Woodstock, NY
Post Traumatic Press will celebrate the publication of Dear Cloudface, a book of poems by T. G. Vanini with illustrations by Carol Zaloom. The author and Julie Parisi Kirby will perform poetry and music.

 

Monday, December 3

7:00pm – Poetic Vibe

Tuesday, December 4

Albany Poets has returned to The Low Beat with “Brass Tacks”, a brand new series of poetry and spoken word, hosted by Thom Francis.

7:00pm – Club Helsinki Open Mic

A weekly open mic for music, performance, and poetry on the incredible Club Helsinki stage.

7:00pm – Emack and Bolio’s Open Mic Night
Emack & Bolio’s, Delaware Ave., Albany, NY
A weekly open mic for music and poetry.

7:00pm – Poetry and Short Story Open Mic
Irish Tea Shop, 2460 Rourte 145, East Durham, NY
All are welcome to join the monthly Poetry & Short Story Evenings that will be held on 1st Tuesday of Every Month at the Irish Tea Shop.

8:00pm – Northampton Poetry Open Mic
World War II Club, 50 Conz St., Northampton, MA
Northampton’s only weekly open mic poetry night offers some of the best, most creative voices in the county. Every Tuesday night at 8:00pm. Come down and listen. Come down and share your words. Academic or slam, spoken word or political: Your words are welcome.

Open mic for poetry and spoken word hosted by Carol Graser at the historic Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs with featured poet Steven Huff.

6:30pm – Albany Area Poetry Chat

The ”Albany Area Poetry Chat” is open to the public, free, and meets in public cafe of Honest Weight Food Coop to discuss poetry and literature.

7:00pm – Noble Coffee Roasters Open Mic

Open mic with featured poet Margaret Fox, hosted by Robert Milby.

7:00pm – Rockhill Bakehouse Open Mic

7:30pm – Utica Poets Society Spoken Word Open Mic

12:00pm – Poetry Reading and Book Signing

Poet Roberta Gould will be reading from her new book Woven Lightning. Copies will be available for purchase.

1:00pm – Poetry Caravan of Columbia County: A Child’s Christmas in Wales
Chatham Public Library, 11 Woodbridge Avenue, Chatham, NY
Give yourself the gift of an hour at the library, hearing Dylan Thomas himself read “A Child’s Christmas in Wales.” A Holiday (or Non-Holiday) Poetry Swap will follow. School-age children will enjoy the story, too!

Monthly poetry open mic in beautiful Woodstock, NY hosted by Chronogram Poetry Editor Phillip Levine with featured poets.

5:00pm – Woodstock Library Forum Presents Reading and Book Signing by Roberta Gould

7:00pm – Volume Reading Series
Spotty Dog Books & Ale, 440 Warren Street, Hudson, NY
Volume is a FREE reading and music series featuring prose, poetry, and a short DJ set every second Saturday at Spotty Dog Books and Ale in Hudson NY. This month’s featured performers are Kate Hewett, Anna Victoria, Dani French, Geneva Zane, and Karen Keats.
