It’s Back…The Poetry Mission Returns on September 26th

The Troy Poetry Mission is rising from the ashes and coming to Elixir 16 (45 2nd Street, Troy). The first event at the new location will be Wednesday, September 26 with featured poet Alan Catlin.

The Troy Poetry Mission

Alan Catlin has been publishing since the 70’s when things were simpler and on paper. He is so old he even took part in the mimeo revolution. His latest chapbooks include the 2017 Slipstream Chapbook contest winner, Blue Velvet and an evil twin sister, Hollyweird from Night Ballet Press.

The Troy Poetry Mission began in 2016 at O’Brien’s Public House but had to go on hiatus earlier this year due to the closure of the venue. Elixir 16, which opened in 2017, is a taproom and craft beer shop with a wide variety of beverages on draft and take-away bottle and can service.

Local poets R.M. Engelhardt and James Duncan host this open mic for “Poets, Poetry & The Spoken Word” on the last Wednesday of each month. Sign up at 7:30 p.m., open mic begins at 8:00 p.m. There is a $3.00 suggested donation.
