Facilitated by Joan Kruger
Designed especially for poetry novices, this workshop is “basic training” for those interested in writing poetry but aren’t sure where to begin. This workshop is for beginners (or “beginners-plus”), and focuses on giving and receiving constructive feedback on our work, as well as offering exercises, writing prompts, and some tips on how to read poetry, as we learn some basic techniques. Bring a poem to share at the first meeting; if you don’t have one, that’s okay too, as we’ll be writing in class! Get comfortable with a tall glass of lemonade and start writing!
For adults 18+. Free and open to the public.
As a poet with many years of teaching experience, Joan Kruger offers many skills related to creative writing, fiction, critical thinking, composition, writing for publication and reviews of the arts. Editing and technical writing round out her experience.
This program series is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. Sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Library System and participating member libraries.
