Poets Speak Loud featuring Carol Durant

The Poets Speak Loud open mic series continues at McGeary’s in downtown Albany on Monday, June 25, with featured reader Carol Durant.

Carol Durant is a UAlbany Alumna with a Masters degree in Africana Studies and works at a local cemetery. In 2017, Carol added acting and published author to her resume. Whole Phat and Gluten Free Poetry is her first book of poetry.  Whole Phat and Gluten Free Poetry mixes the travails of daily life with the semantics of today and yesteryear for baby boomers to millennials to ponder, wonder and enjoy.

Carol was the co-Stage Manager with Amelia Paul in A Lesson Before Dying. Carol was also the stage manager/actor for The Exonerated at Siena College, performed by Soul Rebel Performance Troupe and directed by Jean-Remy Monnay. Carol was cast as The Help in An Inspector Calls with Schenectady Civic Players. Her rookie season on the boards included roles as Phoebe in William Shakespeare’s As You Like it at Sand Lake Center of the Arts and The Therapist in Harriet Tubman visits a Therapist for Soul Rebel Performance Troupe and an original monologue for the Illuminate Theatre Series.
