On Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 6:30 pm, Eli Clare will be coming to the Center to do a reading from his book Brilliant Imperfection: Grappling with Cure and facilitate a discussion after the reading. Light refreshments will be available and copies of Clare’s book will be available for purchase at the event. The event is free and open to the public.
Eli Clare is a transgender person with a disability who has written books as well as a collection of poems about disability, gender, sexuality, and race from his own personal experience throughout life. Clare has spoken at colleges and universities, conferences, and community events across the United States and Canada about his written works and his experiences with disability, social justice, and queer/trans identities. In his newest book, Eli Clare uses memoir, history, and critical analysis to explore cure—the deeply held belief that body-minds considered broken need to be fixed.
We invite you and your guests to attend the event. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Barbara Devore by telephone at (518) 274-0701, or by email at bdevore@ilchv.org. I look forward to seeing you on March 6th .
