Poets Speak Loud Featuring Mike Jurkovic and Nick Bisanz

The Poets Speak Loud open mic series wraps up the year at McGeary’s in downtown Albany on Monday, November 27, with poetry and performance from Mike Jurkovic and Nick Bisanz.

Mike Jurkovic, a 2016 Pushcart nominee, poetry and musical criticism have appeared in over 500 magazines and periodicals but have generated no reportable income. Nick Bisanz brings with him a broad range of musical experience. Hailing from Poughkeepsie NY and now residing in Albany, Nick has played and recorded, on both bass and guitar, with numerous Hudson Valley and Capitol Region acts.

During the course of his career, he has worked with former AGITPOP members John deVries and Mark LaFalce and songwriter/producer Joe Henry. Nick was also a member of Hudson Valley punk legends The Doverboys and fronted Lie/Cheat/Steal featuring his own compositions, as well as one half of the duo Bisanz/Irish. Nick, in various bands, has opened for Bob Dylan, Glenn Frey, fIREHOSE, Blotto, Mike Watt, Shonen Knife, Willie Nile, The Trews, and many more. Nick was also a member of long standing Albany favorites The Last Conspirators. Nick played bass and guitar as well as co-writing the 2016 release “Hold That Thought Forever”.

Nick currently works with long-time friend and bassist Mike Grundy on original material and plan an E.P. of material in the near future.

Nick works as a solo and duo and brings forth a very large collection of cover material spanning numerous styles and genres. Nick can also be seen with his cover band, The Komrades

Poets Speak Loud is Albany Poets’ long-running monthly open mic for poetry and spoken word with a featured poet hosted by local poet Mary Panza at McGeary’s (4 Clinton Square) in downtown Albany on the last Monday of each and every month.

Sign-up for the open mic is 7:00pm, we start around 8pm.
