Applications Now Open for Community-based Arts Grants

Arts Center of the Capital RegionDeadline to Apply: December 3rd, 2017

The Arts Center of the Capital Region is pleased to announce our grant program for community arts projects taking place between April 1st, 2018 and March 31st, 2019. The Decentralization Regrant Program – provided by the New York State Council on the Arts – hosts 3 types of grants for artists and non-profit organizations throughout Albany, Rensselaer and Schenectady Counties.

Community Arts Grants – for organizations to produce high-quality arts and cultural programming. (up to $5,000)

Arts Education Grants – funding for organizations or teaching artists to provide programming that integrates with non-arts curricula in K-12 classrooms OR community-based learning projects. ($2,500/program)

Individual Artist Commissions – provide funds to individual artists to create new works that engage the local community ($2,500/commission)

All new applicants are required to attend an informational seminar between August and November 19th.

The past year, The Arts Center distributed $98,000 in funding to 37 artists and organizations. The Arts Center of the Capital Region aims to support local artists and enhance the vibrant and growing local creative community and economy.

Pottery Studio Coordinator Position Now Available

The Arts Center of the Capital Region is seeking a new part-time Pottery Studio Coordinator. Candidates must have a BFA with pertinent ceramic experience, excellent organizational & communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. This position also requires candidates to be able to lift 50lbs or more. Candidates should project a positive demeanor and enjoy working with the public. Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
