Writers in the Mountains (WIM) will celebrate National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo for short, to support novelists and encourage them to finish their works. National Novel Writing Month is an annual Internet-based creative writing project that takes place throughout the month of November. It challenges participants to complete a 50,000-word novel by the end of the month.
This year Writers in the Mountains, in partnership with “The Writers’ Evening” program of The Roxbury Arts Group, will be hosting write-in events to motivate writers and provide feedback and support. Journalist Lillian Browne will lead weekly write-ins at the William B. Ogden Free Library in Walton on Wednesdays, 6-8 p.m. Writer Kristina Zill will lead write-ins at Liberty Rock Bookstore in Hobart on Saturdays, 2-4 p.m.
In conjunction with this event, Writers in the Mountains is sponsoring an open mic story slam / reading event at Feather and Stone Restaurant in Walton, Saturday, November 12, from 2- 4 p.m.
