Poets Kelly de la Rocha and Leslie Neustadt read at the annual Schenectady Community of Writers Program at the Schenectady Public Library on Sunday, November 22, 2015.
You might recognize Kelly de la Rocha‘s name from her byline in The Daily Gazette, but recently she embarked on a new adventure, accepting a position as communications specialist for Hunger Solutions NY, based in Colonie. An outdoors-woman, volunteer, and poet, the Glenville resident draws inspiration from every facet of her life. Her poems have been featured in multiple print and e-publications.
Leslie Neustadt began writing late in life in a peer writer group called WomenWords. Her writing and artwork are illuminated by her Jewish upbringing and influenced by her experiences as a survivor of child abuse, and a rare and incurable blood cancer. Her writing has been published in a variety of journals and anthologies. She donates the entire proceeds from the sale of her poetry book, Bearing Fruit, A Poetic Journey, to not-for-profits. She loves facilitating workshops that enable people to express their creativity and share their stories.
