Another great lineup of poetry and spoken word coming up next week with lots of poetry readings, slams, and open mics with great features all over the region. Here in Albany we have the first Nitty Gritty Slam Semi-Final of the season on Tuesday and the Third Thursday Poetry Night featuring Karen Skolfield on Thursday.

7:00pm – Nitty Gritty Slam #82 – The First Team Nitty Gritty Semi-Final
The Low Beat, 335 Central Ave., Albany, NY
Season Four of Albany’s poetry slam continues with NGS #82. This is the first Semi-Final featuring the top 10 points leaders (L-Majesty, Amani, Poetyc Visionz, Mojavi, Samson Dikeman, Anna, Victorio, Brandon Williamson, Stephen Roberts, and Elizag) so far. There is also an open mic for poetry and spoken word before the slam. Admission is $5.00 / $3.00 with student ID.
7:00pm – Colonie Tuesday Night Live Poets’ Corner

8:00pm – Next Year’s Words, A Reading Forum

Linda Melick of Wallkill Valley Writers and Jan Schmidt of SUNY-NP’s English Department will read from their work at the second event in this ongoing monthly reading series, which aims to mix young and mature voices, juxtaposing works of fiction, poetry, memoir and nonfiction from different stages of life. Open mic and light refreshments.
