We are back at The Low Beat on Tuesday, June 17 with the 72nd edition of Nitty Gritty Slam!
At the last slam, NGS #71, we had a great night of poetry and spoken with some new voices being heard for the very first time. It was an awesome experience to welcome so much talent to our stage.
Again at this slam, and all summer long, we are back with our Old School Slam format. Everyone is welcome to sign up and compete in the traditional “8-4-2″ slam for cash prizes. We will also have a special raffle to help raise money for the slam team. What we are raffling off? T-shirts? CDs? Books? You never know what we will be bringing with us from Albany Poets HQ.
This is going to be another great night of poetry and spoken word as we continue our awesome Summer of Slam in right here, in Albany, NY.

Albany Poets, Urban Guerilla Theatre, and The Frequency North Reading Series have brought slam back to Albany with the Nitty Gritty Slam at The Low Beat (335 Central Ave.) on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of each month.
If you’re not into slam, but want to get on stage and share your work, we have an open mic before the slam. Sign up begins at 7:00pm, open mic starts at 7:30, and then Thom Francis starts the slam at 8:00pm. Admission is $5.00 ($3.00 with student ID). This is an 18+ show.
