Matthew Klane and James Belflower, the curators of the great Yes! Poetry and Performance series have another night of poetry and spoken word lined up at the Albany Center Gallery on Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m. featuring Jamie Townsend, Stephanie Strickland, and Ian Hatcher.
Jamie Townsend is the managing editor of Aufgabe, and Elderly, an emergent hub of ebullience and disgust. He is author of several chapbooks, most recently PROPOSITIONS (Mondo Bummer 2014), as well as the forthcoming long-player SHADE (Elis Press, 2014).
Stephanie Strickland’s 7th book of poems, Dragon Logic, was published by Ahsahta in 2013. Award-winning volumes include True North and The Red Virgin: A Poem of Simone Weil. She has also collaborated on 9 electronic poems, most recently Sea and Spar Between and Duels—Duets with Nick Montfort and House of Trust with Ian Hatcher. Her prize-winning volume from Penguin, V : WaveSon.nets / Losing L’una, has just appeared in a new edition from SpringGun with accompanying app for iPad. A member of the Board of Directors of the Electronic Literature Organization, she co-edited Electronic Literature Collection Volume 1.
Ian Hatcher is a text/sound/performance artist, musician, and programmer living in Brooklyn. He has performed code-inflected poetry readings at the Kitchen (NYC), the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris, E-Poetry festivals in London and Buffalo, and NOW in San Diego, and at the Chicago Cultural Center. Recent projects include collaborations on two poetry apps for the iPad: Vniverse, with Stephanie Strickland, and Abra, with Amaranth Borsuk and Kate Durbin.
Albany Center Gallery is a community-based and community supported non-profit art space dedicated to exhibiting skillful contemporary art of the Mohawk Hudson region, and building a strong, knowledgeable audience for the visual arts.
