We return to McGeary’s on Monday, September 30 for the “back to school” edition of Poets Speak Loud. This month we are happy to welcome Jacqueline Kirkpatrick as our featured reader.
Jacqueline is a writer, reader, mother, and daydreamer. She is currently an MFA in Creative Writing student at The College of Saint Rose & reads frequently at open mic venues around town.
Jacky has been coming out to open mics in the area for a number of years. She has recently been a big part of the Nitty Gritty Slam series at Valentine’s and was the featured poet at the Third Thursday Poetry Night in August. From that performance, host Dan Wilcox commented that she is “one of those pleasant poetic surprises at Albany WordFest a few years back. Now, even as a student in the St. Rose MFA writing program, she finds time to get to some of the poetry events in town.”
Poets Speak Loud is Albany Poets’ long-running monthly open mic for poetry and spoken word with a featured poet hosted by local poet Mary Panza at McGeary’s (4 Clinton Square) in downtown Albany on the last Monday of each and every month.
Sign-up for the open mic is 7:00pm, we start around 8pm.
