Following the workshop lead by William Seaton at the College of Poetry, the Poetry on the Loose reading series will present Christi Shannon Kline reading her work at 3:30 p.m. on May 4 in the Seligmann Studio, 23 White Oak Drive, Sugar Loaf (across from the SLPAC). An open reading will follow Kline’s presentation.
Kline is a poet/playwright/performer, the author of No Child More Perfect & Other Poems. About her work Marie Ponsot says, “Watch out! Christi Shannon Kline’s poems are original. She speaks her mind, ordinary and desperate, frank and unfaked and full of feeling. The poems sing and we welcome their freshness.”
Her play Reunion has been produced several times, including a run at the Drilling Company Theater in Manhattan, with Kline playing the leading role. A member of Actors’ Equity and the Dramatists Guild, she spent many years working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, New York, and abroad before settling in northern New Jersey.
The next Poetry on the Loose reading on June 1 will feature Gary Whitehead.
