This year is flying right along. We are already in March and looking ahead to the 2013 Albany Word Fest in April. We made the official announcement about the event earlier this week and have received a great response so far. This years Word Fest looks to be another great series of events as we are again hosting a full week celebration of poetry and spoken word here in Albany. We ave open mics, featured readings, film screenings, haiku battles, poetry slams, and much more planned for the week of April 14.
But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. Here is rundown of the poetry events that are coming up next week in and around Albany.

7:30pm – Nitty Gritty Slam #39 – The Dead Poet Slam
Valentines, 17 New Scotland Ave., Albany
Albany Poets, Urban Guerilla Theatre, and The Frequency North Reading Series are bringing slam back to Albany with the NITTY GRITTY SLAM on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of each month. If you’re not into slam, but want to get on stage and share your work, we have an open mic before the slam. Sign up begins at 7PM, open mic starts at 7:30, and the slam starts at 8PM. Admission is $5.00 ($3.00 with student ID).
