We are back at Valentine’s on Tuesday, January 29 for a special, fifth Tuesday edition of Nitty Gritty Slam.
Earlier this season Kevin Peterson and Poetyc Visionz advanced to the Grand Slam, joining Season One Champion of Champions ILLiptical. The Grand Slam will determine who will be representing NGS at the National Poetry Slam in Boston this summer.
This season, the points count and we are keeping track. So far Algorhythm is in the lead, but Christopher The Poet is hot on his heels and we have some new poets who are making a huge impact on the NGS landscape.
On top of all of that, we will also have an open mic hosted by slam coach and UGT president Mojavi for everyone who is inspired to share their work and words with the very receptive and energetic crowd.
**Note – The Haiku Battle that was originally planned for 1/29 has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 16 as a part of the 2013 Albany Word Fest. More details on the annual WF event coming soon.**
Albany Poets, Urban Guerilla Theatre, and The Frequency North Reading Series are bringing slam back to Albany with the NITTY GRITTY SLAM.
NGS takes place at Valentine’s (17 New Scotland Ave.) on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of each month.
If you’re not into slam, but want to get on stage and share your work, we have an open mic before the slam.
Sign up begins at 7PM, open mic starts at 7:30, and the slam starts at 8PM.
Admission is $5.00 ($3.00 with student ID). This is an 18+ show.
