On Tuesday, May 1, we storm back into Valentine’s for the 17th installment of the Nitty Gritty Slam.
At the 16th Nitty Gritty Slam last week at Valentine’s we were right in the middle of Word Fest week and we had a full house. The room was filled with new faces, familiar NGS names, returning friends, and some experienced slammers from New Paltz who took the whole night to a new level. We also had a little controversy with the final round, but in the end it was a great night of poetry and spoken word.
What kind of shenanigans are going to happen this time around? Be sure to come out on the 1st, celebrate May Day and step up to the mic!
Albany Poets, Urban Guerilla Theatre, and The Frequency North Reading Series are bringing slam back to Albany with the NITTY GRITTY SLAM.
NGS takes place at Valentine’s (17 New Scotland Ave.) on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of each month.
If you’re not into slam, but want to get on stage and share your work, we have an open mic before the slam. Sign up begins at 7PM, open mic starts at 7:30, and the slam starts at 8PM.
Admission is $5.00 ($3.00 with student ID)
Here are some photos from the NGS #16. Dan Wilcox has a post detailing the night’s event.
