On Tuesday, April 17, right in the middle of Word Fest week we will the holding the 16th installment of the Nitty Gritty Slam. This time around we are ruight in the middle of the 2012 Albany Word Fest, continuing the poetry and spoken word throughout the week.
The last slam at Valentine’s was a close contest with Shannon “In The Money” Shoemaker coming out on top for her second 1st place win.
Will Shannon continue being “In The Money”? Will someone new step up to take the big cash prize at NGS #16?
Albany Poets, Urban Guerilla Theatre, and The Frequency North Reading Series have brought slam back to Albany with the Nitty Gritty Slam.
NGS takes place at Valentine’s (17 New Scotland Ave.) on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of each month.
If you’re not into slam, but want to get on stage and share your work, we have an open mic before the slam hosted by Mojavi. Sign up begins at 7PM, open mic starts at 7:30, and the slam starts at 8PM with Slammaster Dain Brammage steering the ship.
Admission is $5.00 ($3.00 with student ID)
