This is Dan. I tend to repeat this all through the beginning of the evening, and Dain knows it by heart, so I figured I would post it here.
1. We draw for the 8 for the slam from the Poetry Slam Gladware container.
2. We pick for the Sacrificial Goat from those not selected.
3. Then we put the names not picked from both Poetry Slam or the Sacrificial Goat slot into the Open Mic Gladware container.
4. We then select 8 people for that. Same three-minute time limit applies.
Our friends over at CapCity Slam recently changed their name from Nitty Gritty Slam and set off on a new course at the Albany Barn.
The Nitty Gritty Slam Team is heading to Chicago next month to represent the Capital Region at the 2018 National Poetry Slam.
The Hudson Valley Writers Guild supports the efforts of writers in all genres by sponsoring readings, workshops, and contests and providing a number of valuable resources for the entire literary community.
I think you should have the open mic poets read between the slam rounds, it couldn’t be any worse than the jokes we’ve been subjected to (pardon my dangle). That’s what I think, if you want to know what I think.
