There was a good group of local poets gathered to read in the open mic & to hear our featured poet, Janet Hamill at the Social Justice Center.
One shouldn’t rest on one’s laurels, they tend to get all crinkled & crushed, so I came back to the Low Beat for more Slam to refresh them.
When the first Word Fest happened in 2001 it was an open mic. Since then Word Fest has grown & changed, but the one constant is the annual Word Fest Open Mic.
The Nitty Gritty Slam is held on on each 1st & 3rd Tuesday at The Low Beat here in Albany and that means this week it falls into Word Fest.
The Hudson Valley Writers Guild supports the efforts of writers in all genres by sponsoring readings, workshops, and contests and providing a number of valuable resources for the entire literary community.
