Word Thursdays In Person featuring The Teacup Poets: Teresa Winchester, Sharon Ruetenik, Sharon Cucinotta, Magdalena Tabor, & Laura Wright, will take place in THREE DAYS at Bright Hill Press and will broadcast live on Thursday, July 11 at 7 PM EST.

Laura Wright is a supervisor at Heart of the Catskills Humane Society in the beautiful Catskill Mountains. In her free time, she enjoys writing and spending time with her 2 dogs, 4 cats, and 3 turtles. Her work recently appeared in Discretionary Love. Laura is inspired by nature, all forms of art, and the things that connect us as beings.
Until her recent retirement, Sharon Ruetenik was the international student advisor, writing center coordinator, and a part-time instructor in composition and literature at SUNY Delhi. She holds masters degrees in both literature and library science. Ruetenik’s chapbook, The Wooden Bowl, illustrates the role of women from Eve to Dorothy. Her work has appeared in print and on-line journals, most recently the anthologies Like Light and Prolific press Three line Poetry, an on-line edition of The Catskill Mountain Region Guide, and the print journals Iconoclast and Evening Street Review.
Ruetenik has taught poetry as a college instructor, for Writers in the Mountains and at the Ogden Library through a grant from the NY Council of the Humanities. In addition she has functioned as the facilitator for the council leading several discussions, including such varied topics as True Crime, Aging, and the Muslim Journey. Ruetenik was awarded a fellowship at the Saltonstall Foundation of the Arts and Platte Clove.
Of great interest as both educator and writer are what initially sparks the work, its process from inception, and the art of revising. Her own work involves retelling of myths and fairy tales, family lore, and most importantly exploring the hard truths of life and its myriad incongruities.
Sharon Israel hosts the radio show and podcast, Planet Poet-Words in Space. Her chapbook Voice Lesson was published by Post Traumatic Press. Sharon’s work most recently appeared in The Raw Art Review (Uncollected Press). She is a member of the sound/poetry duo OrphicMix with composer Robert Cucinotta.
Teresa Winchester began writing poetry, essays, and short stories after covering Word Thursdays in 1992 for the Delaware County Times. Her work has appeared in Bright Hill Press and other local publications. She has frequently written freelance articles for local newspapers. She holds a Ph.D. in French literature.
Magdalena Tabor is originally from NYC having worked in major retail establishments before retiring to the Catskills. Her poems have been printed on Long Island and upstate NY in various publications. A one time blog shared with husband Michael featured her prose and original cartoons. Future endeavors include a children’s book with original illustrations based on the life of noted author and conservationist Anne LaBastille.
