Unbroken Circle
For National Poetry Month Woodstock Poetry Society and the Woodstock Library will host “Unbroken Circle,” An afternoon in both the spirit of childhood and in recognition of those poets no longer with us. A special event focused on our young poets and our past poets
1 pm – 2 pm: Poetry Workshops for Kids (ages 7+)
(Cookies, pretzels, water and seltzer provided or BYO Snacks)
We will offer two 20-minute workshops, the first a session with Phillip X Levine on Haiku, a form of Japanese poetry. The second workshop with Miranda Haydn will include the rhythm of language which we will explore with light drumming.
2 pm – 4 pm: Woodstock Poetry Society Open Mic
At the end of the first hour, we will bring the kids together to share what they’ve come up with, along with a round of Mad Libs with the larger group, and finally for anyone and everyone who would like to share their work aloud as part of a wide-open mic.
All adult writers are encouraged to read something from their childhood or their inner child as well as sharing work by Woodstock poets who are no longer with us.
If you are interested in assisting in this special event, please contact Phillip X Levine at phillip@woodstockpoetry.com.
