Yexandra ‘Yex’ Diaz, Chicago born and New Haven raised, is a Community Advocate and Oral Narrator who uses the art of spoken word as a vehicle for messages that raise awareness around social and environmental injustices. Versed in issues that plague impoverished, inner city communities, Yex utilizes her voice as a tool to bridge gaps and build ties. An overall Community Advocate, Yex wears many hats ranging from a Birth Doula and Environmental Educator to a Facilitator; developing & delivering varying trainings such as Cultural Humility & Responsiveness and Creative Writing workshops. By marrying thought with speech to convey the pain and plight of marginalized communities of color in an unequivocally vivid and enlightening fashion, her mighty pen and tongue brings awareness to social and cultural atrocities. Yex looks forward to continuously serving her community!
