Next Year’s Words: A New Paltz Reading Forum with Rachel Hadas, Suzanne Cleary, and Lucia Cherciu
Next Year’s Words, A New Paltz Reading Forum presents its National Poetry Month edition with three brilliant poets: Rachel Hadas, Suzanne Cleary, and Lucia Cherciu on Wednesday, April 20 at 7:30 pm via ZOOM.
Rachel Hadas’ most recent books are a poetry collection Love & Dread, and a book of selected prose titled Piece By Piece. Her work is widely recognized and awarded and appears frequently in The New Yorker and on the websites of the Poetry Foundation and the Academy of American Poets.
Suzanne Cleary’s third book, Beauty Mark, won the John Ciardi Prize for Poetry. She has also won a Pushcart Prize. Her poems have appeared in Best American Poetry, The Atlantic, Southern Review, and Georgia Review.
Dr. Lucia Cherciu is the 2021 Duchess County poet laureate. She is the author of five books of poetry, most recently Train Ride to Bucharest, which received the Eugene Paul Nassar Poetry Prize. Her work appeared in “Antioch Review,” “Connecticut Review,” “Poetry East,” and in Romanian literary magazines, such as “Timpul,”and “Astra. She writes both in English and in Romanian.
There will also be an open mic.
