Fiction Workshop: Writing to Stay Human with Ian Ross Singleton

Are you a writer apprehensive about AI? Tell me about it. This workshop will help you to identify and put into practice various craft strategies that large language models (LLMs; otherwise known as AI) such as ChatGPT cannot do. HI (human intelligence) writing includes a conscious awareness of aspects of writing such as the process from first to last draft, the “perplexity” (a linguistic term involving unpredictability of word choice) of one’s writing, randomness, humor, humility, patience, and using questions as an organizing principle for one’s craft.

This craft workshop, sponsored by the Hudson Valley Writers Guild will involve discussion, writing based on a prompt, and a follow-up discussion.

Free and open to the public.
