Caffe Lena Poetry Open Mic featuring Sparrow
On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, Caffè Lena will present a poetry reading by Sparrow. An open mic poetry reading will follow. Doors open for sign-ups at 6:30 pm, and the readings will start at 7:00. The host for the event will be Carol Graser, and the cost is $5 general, free for students.

Sparrow is a longtime author, poet, activist, and musician hailing from the Lower East Side of Manhattan and a member of the New York-based literary group the Unbearables. He’s published many books, including Small Happiness and Other Epiphanies (Monkfish 2020), The Princeton Diary (Vinal Publishing 2020) and his latest book, stories, published by Apathy Press. Sparrow has been published in The New Yorker (after picketing their offices in 1996 while holding a sign reading, “My Poetry is as bad as yours”), The Quarterly, The American Poetry Review, The Sun, The New York Times – and quoted in Vogue! Sparrow plays flutophone in the pro-Zoroastrian pop group Foamola. He has run for President of the United States eight times. Sparrow lives in a trailer in the Catskills, with his wife Violet Snow.
